Trapos, 2024
With the grim economic crisis in argentina, Mein has observed the increasing number of informal street vendors selling cleaning cloths due to rampant unemployment. The artist collects dish cloths and incorporates their geometric precariousness in new paintings and drawings as part of her on-going research on the physicality of images and the structure of their supports. Lines are a primordial element in her work, that tends to explore the limits of drawing - the intellectual and manual labors, the finished and unfinished, art and craftsmanship.
